Gilroy celebrated its own 5-Time World Champion Boxer, Robert Guerrero, on Sunday, May 15, 2011. The day's festivities ran from Noon to 6 P.M. on Fifth Street between Monterey and Eigleberry. Everyone enjoyed a day of music, food, an autograph session, and a boxing demonstration featuring Robert and his dad. Presentations were made by State Assemblyman Luis Alejo, the Gilroy Downtown Business Association, the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce, Chief Turner, and Mayor Al with the City Council.
All proceeds from the event were donated to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
